Low self esteem – The formula for how to gain confidence is already in you. Unfortunately, your environment is holding the real you back. I will give you some simple tips on how to work on your low self esteem and gain self confidence.
Do You Have Low Self Esteem?
This time I’d like to talk about something, I’ve struggled with my whole life. I was looking for it, for almost all my life and when I finally found it, I was surprised to see where it actually got me – Self confidence.
Before you can work on your self confidence, you have to make sure that you are surrounded by the right people: People that support you, challenge you, inspire you and have your back when it matters most. Now, how do you make sure you are surrounded by the right people in order for you to gain confidence?
Now, that’s the hardest part about it, but I will give you some simple tips on how it’s done:
- Think about people that have supported you in any way over the last years.
- Think about people that made fun of you.
- How many people have inspired you, or helped you trying something new.
- Now think about the people you hung out with, but don’t even know why.
- Ask yourself, do I wanna waste my time with people who don’t even really know me nor value me in any way?
- Strengthen the relationship with people you actually want to see – people you look forward to.
- You will soon see that self confidence was already in you – you just weren’t surrounded by the right people.
I Still Can’t find Self Confidence
Be patient, adjustments to your social life will take some time, but it’s worth the wait. If you have very low self esteem, challenge yourself in order to gain confidence.
Let me give you an example. Almost a year ago I went clubbing for the first time in my life. I was anxious and didn’t now what to expect. I’ve always wanted to try it, but I never had friends around me who would go with me. Sometimes, when nobody is supporting you, you have to just do it!
So I decided that I will just do it. I went to a nightclub nearby and right when I was about to enter the club, the bouncer was examining me. I thought, s***t he is not gonna let me in, I probably wear the wrong clothes. But he just smiled and said: “have fun tonight!”. I was so relieved. So I went in and had the best night ever. I danced like I had never danced before. That night was a key moment for me. I learned that I don’t have to fear the environment I live in, I have to overcome my fears by challenging myself.
I Found My Self Confidence, Now What?
Develop your self-confidence, work on it, constantly challenge yourself, and most importantly, let others challenge you. Try to say no once in a while, put yourself into unconformable situations – This will not only build your character but also help you gaining confidence.
It took me more than 20 years to get to that point. Don’t wait so long. I’ve been developing my self-confidence for 2 years now, and it’s just amazing how much positive impact it has on my life.
